| Illustrator CS
Indesign CS
Acrobat Prof 6.0
I have several illustrations containing text (Myriad Pro). When placed into Indesign (CS) and the document is PDFd (6.0.05), a few characters are substituted with a crossed out box. 4,7, and x's in this particular document. The illustration looks good whe
n re opened, the Indesign looks good but PDF product has the problem.
Here's what I have tried:
1. PDFd illust. OK
2. Re saved illustration and deleted/re-placed illustrations. No Go when PDFd
3. Saved as eps file and placed in Indesign and PDFd. OK on all
4. Deleted EPS and re-placed with original AI files. OK
5. I've checked to make sure Acrobat was looking for the font in the right place.
#4 is the puzzler.
I use Myriad Pro everywhere in Illy and Indesign.
I have another document that a 9 was substituted for a 2 in several places when Indesign document was PDFd. Those illustrations (number ballons) are EMFs. (I had those already created when I switched to Adobe products).
Anyone have any ideas?

| Additional significant information:
The files are all stored on a server, with the Illy graphics linked in Indesign. I am going to do a test with the files all stored on my hard drive to see if the situation improves.

| I replace a illustration stored on the network with one save on my hard drive and rePDFd. Same problem with a text character replaced with an x-box. It looks like an Acrobat problem???

| I am basically talking to my self but anyway...
I still don't know why but exporting to pdf instead of printing to pdf results in a good output.
Bye Greg

You're sittin' on a goldmine there, Greg. Does it do Playstations, too?
(Just doing my part to alleviate your loneliness)
