Author Thumbnails No Longer Work in CS2

I just upgraded from CS to CS2. I found viewing thumbnails in the Open Dialog very time-saving. Now, in CS2 (all the applications; not just Illustrator), only a selected file will show a thumbnail in a preview window at the bottom-center of the dialog.

Is there anyway I can get my thumbnails back? Why would Adobe do something like this? It's not an improvement.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Chris Yochum

Chris,

A search in this forum with keyword 'thumbnail' yielded this previous discussion <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bba5917/0> (among others).

Chris,
You can preview files in Bridge if you have a week or so to wait while Bridge launches. I get the thumbnails in the Open dialog in CS2. However, I had to keep 10 and CS installed because I'm still required to use them. If I understand Harron the comment H
arron references, the presence of 10 and/or CS seems to explain the thumbnails.

Thanks a lot guys. The discussion on dll's is confusing, so I guess I have to get used to using Bridge, which is obviously the point of deleting the thumbnails elsewhere. Guess I can get used to anything if I have to. Much obliged for the info and time.

Chris,

I have CS2 all by itself on my Mac, and I get thumbnails without having to go to Bridge. Hmmm. I'm with you. The .dll stuff went right over my head.

Cheers, T
