Pen tool is only showing crosshair icon

| How can I get it to show the pen tool icon instead of this crosshair icon? Is there a setting that I can change, can't remember this being a problem before?

| COOL, Thank you. Any reason why I've never noticed this before, I mean, I can't imagine that I've had Caps Lock on every time I use Illustrator.

You are suffering from Caps Lock blindness. For me it is when I want to, for example, select the objects with the same fill and stroke as a selected object (Alt + S, M, R), and sit and stare at the screen for minutes waiting for something to happen. steve
