Anyone have any other ideas about this?

I work on large format tradeshow stuff too, and there seems to be a max out size (in pixels) beyond which illustrator will not place.

I would love to know what the max size is and why.

From what I can tell, it does not matter what type of file it is, (a 40MB Jpeg for example vs. a 150MB LZW compressed TIFF vs. an uncompressed 400MB TIFF) or how it is scaled in AI.

I am restricted to working in AI now for production reasons. However I do agree that IDs image file handling for large format is far superiour to Illustrator's. I would like to see some of ID's image features integrated in AI.
