I used live trace to vectorize a logo and plan to use it as a watermark
on digital photos. I'm using Illustrator CS2.

Before doing so, I need to convert the image to an outline. How do it
do this?

Also, there are some paths in the logo that are discontinuous (are not
joined). I tried to join the two end anchor points, but it doesn't
work, even though the points appear to be in the same group. How can I
get these points to join?
