Using Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2 on Windows XP SP2. The computer is an HP xw4200 workstation with 1.5 GB Ram. I've got scratch disks on a seperate drive of 40 GB's each. The drives are SATA 150's.

The problem is that when I try to link a file from Photoshop using File | Place with the link button checked, I get an error that says "Photoshop file unreadable." The file is currently open in Photoshop and I can Place a file that is not opened.

The file I'm trying to link is ~950 MB's. My Windows swap file is 2 GB's.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Update:
If I try a slightly lower resolution the file works. I can't see that I'm running out of memory, either swap or otherwise. What would be the cause of this?

Thanks,
Jerry
