| I currently have PSE 2.0 and PSA 2.0 installed on my PC and am looking to upgrade to PSE 5.0. on a new PC.
1) Does PSE 5.0 incorporate PSA 2.0 functions?
2) If so, will PSE 5.0 on my new PC "Restore" My Catalog "Backup" from PSA 2.0 on my old PC?
Thank you. Bob

| 1) Yes, plus much more.
2) Not sure. But if you upgrade and convert your PSA catalog to PSE 5 all you need to do is backup the PSE 5 catalog.
You should visit the PSE forum here:

| What's wrong with continuing to use PSA 2.0 ? I have 10,000 pictures in it, organized to a faretheewell. I synchronize the vatalogs with a laptop, and am very satisfied. Bridge with its paltry 1-5 stars and no tags is no help at all.

| Nothing if that is what you want to do. But Bob may want the additional editing facilities in PSE. Also PSE has improved catalog capabilities with better deeper tags than PSA. Bridge is a PS CS (not PSE) thing.

| 1) How exactly are PSE5 tags deeper than PSA2's ?
2) In PSE5, how many tags can you select simultaneously, e.g. all pix containing "dogs" and "cats ?
3) It seems odd for PSCS or PSCS2 owners to have to purchase PSE5 for the organizer alone?

| 1) PSE Org can have an indefinitely complex hierarchy of tags. It also has stacks, which give another dimension.
2) Like in PSA, you can select as many tags as you like and get AND and OR functionality. You can also exclude particular tags [= NOT functionality].
3) Why is it odd? CS is a pro's tool. There are pro organizers on the market which cost $200-$500 or more. PSE is aimed at amateurs, but happens to offer pros a bargain organizer.
To me, one of the biggest differences after PSA was the introduction of version sets. Each time you edit, you [can] get a new version of the file. Thus you can back up to any previous state.
