| I have 6000 slides (about 20 years old) that I want to put on DVD. Which of the Photoshop products will be best to use?

| If you mean a DVD to play on a TV, then the asnwer is easy: none of them. No Photoshop product can make a DVD without the aid of some other software.
My advice is to look at dedicated slideshow software like Proshow Gold [which seems popular].
BTW, I am a very big fan of Adobe products - in case it sounds like I have a downer - I just know some of their limitations.

| To add to Colin's advice, you have to scan, edit and organize the slides prior to making a DVD. For this I would suggest PS Elements 5 and after the scan you can edit, crop, sharpen etc. and keep track of the photos.
For the DVDs burns I also really like Proshow Gold.

| I thank you both for your advise. We lived oversees for many years and we have, as I said, a lot of slides. I have been promising my daughters that I will put the slides on DVD to watch on a TV. I would also want a caption for each slide so they know wher
e and when this slide was taken. When I scan it do I save it in jpg? I know that I am taking on a big project and I am not a computer expert. But I have more tome than money so I am willing to listen, learn and take my time. It will be a big disappointmen
t if I spent time in this project and then end results are horrible. So keep the advise coming.
Thanks,

When I scan it do I save it in jpg?
You should do a little study on jpg, tiff and Photoshop file formats. Check the web and the Elements File Format section. Google "scanning slides" and there is a lot of tutorials.
I would scan in tiff at high PPI and import them into PS to do the editing. Since I save the original tiffs (for only the best slide) I save all the results in jpg. Professionals say never use jpg but I have so many (and I will never re edit them so they
won't go downhill) it helps with storage space.
I have done a lot of slides over the years and yes it takes time but the results are FANTASTIC especially for the family.
Good luck, readup on what you are doing and come back with any questions you have.
