Hi,

I'm planning to buy AE to Macintosh and wondering what is a perfect
pack for it. At the moment I'm using Powerbook G4, but what combination
works with AE? Is there enuff power in Mini Mac to run AE? Or do I need
Power Mac G5?

Thanks.

That depends on your projects. Certain filters and effects take a LOT
more processing power. The best option, a dual G5 with tons of RAM. That
being said, you can certainly run it on a G4, you will just have longer
rendering times.

They said the same thing about Motion and Final Cut, but working real
time is just a dream. Frame rate drops to 2-6 fps with Motion. It's not
the way to work if you have to render your file to see result /
adjustment / difference... :(

There are definately some work-arounds in AE to speed things along for
editing. Setting the quality of the preview, and/or the size to 50% or
less lets you check your timing quickly. Plus you can choose to preview
just the working section of your sequence. Final Cut OTOH is rendered or
not. :(
