Question one...I am importing my movie as a quicktime reference to AE so that I can create snazzy title credits...but everytime I play the imported film in the timeline it always plays less then the realtime...

fps/29.97 (NOT realtime)...I have the footage as 2997, the project settings and the comp settings as 29.97. And the file was created in avid as a 29.97QTRef.... what am I missing here, why wont it play at realtime..this carries over into my rendering...as
the film moves slow or not at all when rendered as a quicktime mov.

Question two..is there a way to export a created timeline (my animated titles) with a transparent background. I would rather be able to add the movie to avid but it always has a black background and I want the titles to play over my first scene.

Any help from your expert AE folks would be so so so so greatly apprecaited.

Thanks!

First off, for much more info, please use the search function.. Your transparency question has been asked many many times....

With that said... To play in realtime, use ram preview (0 on numpad).

Instead of export, use Make Movie. Make sure to use a format/codec that supports alpha. I generally use .tga files. But you probably want to use Quicktime:Animation Codec. Set it to Millions of colors + (the + designates the alpha). Also make sure it's RG
B + Alpha. VERY IMPORTANT: change your alpha to Straight instead of premultiplied, since Avid doesn't support premultiplied alphas. Otherwise, you'll see a halo around your alpha... It will still have a black background, but when you specify that your Avi
d import has alpha, it'll disappear.

If you need more help, try searching the forum first, then check the manual, then reply back here. Good luck.

Glad I could help. Also, if you're rendering a still for Photoshop, you also need to render it with Straight Alpha. PS doesn't support premultiplied alphas...

Merry Xmas :)
