Hi,

I am using after effects 7.0 on my notebook and was running fine but from last nite i had some viruses on my notebook which screwed up my after effects...well after removing all viruses and reinstalling fresh window copy and deleting after effects folder
and again reinstalled it. It crashed again. Why is it happening? as everything is the same and i have reinstalled the windows and even removed the whole previous folder of after effects.

Prompt help needed.

Not being a first hand Windows user, I can tell you that several PC users in my office recommend doing a low-level format when reinstalling Windows. Some viruses hide in boot sectors or other directories that aren't cleared out when doing a re-install.

But Navarro the thing is I have already scanned my system completely but now there is no virus hiding and every application is working fine but the thing is after effects 7.0 is just a program which is making problems.

Wish I could be more help. I'll have to leave it to the Windows wizards here. You could might want to try Adobe's tech support line too.

Give us more info about when it crashes. At startup? If so, what point of the startup process? Or when rendering?

What kind of system do you have? CPU, RAM etc.

My experience would echo Navarro's. Even after removing viruses, files may be corrupted but virus free. Formatting the HD is the best option for stability of your programs.

You are correct! Always reformat when re-installing OS for just that reason.
Isn't windows wonderful??
