This is a repost/update of an existing topic I made with a more specific subject heading.

All of the menus within After Effects are greyed out. I lack the ability to even go to file>new project or import.
I am baffled as to why I cannot even create a new project, or do anything else for that matter.
My setup: Dual 2.5 GHZ PowerMac G5, 1 gig of ram.
Brand new install of After Affects 6.5 Professional, with 6.5.1 update. I also have Avid Xpress Pro and Photoshop CS Installed on this machine.

Please provide some guidance for this issue. Thank You!

Is your Tips of the Day window hidden but active?

I'm trying to find that out. Tonight I will disconnect my second monitor and remove all external devices. I hope that solves the issue.

I'll update. Thanks

If the Tip of the Day is hidden but active, just hitting the Return key would let you continue. Given that the Watch Folder item is active in your File menu, I suspect that you installed the Render Engine alone instead of the full application.

Hmm. I recall choosing an option during installation that included the render engine. I was under the impression I did a full install...
Maybe I misread.

I'll also try reinstalling tonight.

Thanks!

Problem Solved!! Somehow I managed to only install the render engine. Another re-install, and problem solved!

Thank you everyone for your input.
