PhotoDraw v3 for Office 12 - Why Not

| I was thinking to myself, so many persons love PhotoDraw for what it is and
for what it was. Superb, easy to use Graphics Design with a Microsoft touch
that featured exceptional integration across Office. Microsoft has
introduced us to Acrylic (formerly Expressions). But the response has been
nothing but luke warm, the learning curve has been intolerable. Which brings
me to the question: Why not haul the PhotoDraw code out of the closet and
update it?
Microsoft Office 12 is scheduled to enter beta this fall and is expected to
be released late 2006. Why not take the time now to reintroduce PhotoDraw
with a expected healthy beta program from a group people who continually use
and enquire about the existence of this beloved Microsoft app that brought
graphics design to the average Joe. By the way, the average development time
on a Office product is about 12 months, so with PhotoDraw, you are good to
go. I can bet some of the PD developers went over to some other Imaging part
of Microsoft.
A PhotoDraw version 3 would be successful with its already excellent
graphical user interface synced up in terms of new and improved integration
with other Office 12 applications. Microsoft's answer to me when PhotoDraw
was discontinued was "Picture It! is the replacement". I know of PhotoDraw
specifically as a business graphics program, but at the same time a consumer
oriented graphics app that allowed the user to explore his/her creativity in
a more open way, instead of being conformed to a pre-defined process
expected in Picture It! or Digital Image Suite/Pro.
I saw PhotoDraw as Microsoft's opportunity to grab some attention in the
Photo-Editing and Illustration market dominated by Adobe, Macromedia and
Corel. But they gave up before they even tried which has been nothing but a
definite let down. I always thought that Microsoft never exited a market
until a product flopped at version 3, they never gave PhotoDraw that chance
to prove it self. If Microsoft had continued PhotoDraw development, it
would have been at version 4 right now with an expected version 5 in the
Office 12 time frame.
By listening to the customers and researching the needs through different
avenues such as obtaining customer feed back and beta programs, which they
do today with many of their products, I could see PhotoDraw definitely
competing with the likes of Corel Draw and possibly Painter.
I don't want an Photoshop, I don't want an Illustrator, I don't necessarily
want a Draw or Painter, I just need the continued innovation that version 2
of PhotoDraw brought to the table in Office 2000. Microsoft, can you make me
a deal and bring back PhotoDraw to market? Please, drop Acrylic its just not
what we are looking for in a easy to use graphics editing program that
PhotoDraw prioneered.

| It really is the easiest to learn graphics pgm I know of, and I have over 40
of them. However, it has its tricky parts.
Conversely, it took me five years, three versions, and many books, tutorials
and newsgroups to feel reasonably competent with Photoshop. I still don't
think I understand whole sections of it, e.g. masks.

| Masking is very difficult, I have had my fair share of migraines with it. ;)
