Using PD2 is there a trick to aligning buttons or objects evenly
(horizontally or vertically)? I am trying to align some buttons to use as
links in FP for navigation. I think Publisher has this feature but can't
find it in PD2. Thanks.

I couldn't find it either, although I do think there is a way to do it. Try
Help > Align and read the various topics.

Jenny -

Select the items. Click on Arrange > Align > Align Top, Align Bottom, Align
Left or Align Right.

Rich,

I think that is what I was doing. I had five buttons, one on top of the
other. I selected all of them and when I clicked either Align Left or Align
Right all the buttons lined up perfectly.

However, then I selected the bottom button only and clicked Align Top and
the bottom button "covered" the top button. I said covered because I
couldn't tell what had happened until I realized the bottom button had just
moved over the top button. (I could tell because I selected it and moved it
and the original top button became visible). Please tell me what I'm not
doing.

To further clarify what I'm trying to do: I need equal space between all
buttons just like you would see in a FP Link Bar.

Jenny -

If you want to align equally at the top, you should space the buttons from
left to right equally first. Likewise, if you want to align them to the
left, they should be spaced equally in a vertical sense.

Thanks Rich. I need exact equal space between the buttons. Maybe I can place
the buttons in cells in FP and do it that way.

I agree. You can set the column width in FP and the buttons will be aligned
the way that you want.

Jenny:

1) Go To: File / Picture Set-Up

When the new window opens click on the "Options Button" in this new window
set the horizontal and vertical spacing that you need. The units will be in
pixels, inches, mm or cm depending on what format the images you are working
with or in.

2) Now go to View / Snap to Grid and make sure there is a checkmark next to
Snap to Grid. Now your buttons should snap into place for you as you move
them around.

The one problem with PD's version of the sanp to grid is it will not let you
set a grid smaller than 15 x 15. Anotherwords your buttons will be 15
pixels apart.
