Author will not open JPEG files

I have Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000 version 2.0.0.1129
This programs will no longer recognize JEPG files. The error message
is name.jpg could not be opened. Please make sure the file extension is
correct.

I have repaired and uninstalled-reinstalled. Nothing has cured this
problem.

Please help
