opening a mix file

| My old computer had photodraw and saved files with a .MIX
extension. Can anyone tell me how to open a .MIX file if
you don't have microsoft photodraw?

| Some old versions of MSFT PictureIt could open MIX files. The lite version
that came with MSFT Works Suite 2000 could do so.
PhotoDraw is also occasionally available on eBay.
Bill Somogyi, who used to be a regular poster in this group, has a payware
program that can open them, but I can never remember its name.
A year or so ago I contacted the author of the image viewer IrfanView and
asked him if he could add MIX files to his dozens of supported formats. He
tried, but said MSFT would not release the format so he could code for it.

Their trial at one time was a pretty good working version with no time out.
It had pretty much all the features of the pay version except I think you
could only have 3 data bases. I have the full version so I don't know if
the trial is still the same. Anyway there is a way to configure Thumbs Plus
to view mix files and then you can save them in another format. I worked
out a hack for mic files too the only thing was it wouldn't display a thumb
preview of the mic file. If you search the PD group there should be a
couple different posts explaining the hack. I don't remeber off hand myself
anymore.
